Finding your size.

Indian sizes, in millimetres you can measure at home. Rings and bangles bought from us can be resized once at no charge within 30 days.

Rings

Indian ring sizes are the inner circumference in millimetres minus 40, so a size 12 ring is 52 mm around. Measure a ring that already fits the finger: lay it on a ruler and read the inner diameter, or wrap a strip of paper snugly around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length. Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest, and never when cold.

Wide bands feel tighter than thin ones; for a band wider than 6 mm choose half a size up. A knuckle larger than the base of the finger needs the size that passes the knuckle, with a sizing bead inside if the ring then spins.

Bangles

Bangle sizes are the inner diameter in inches and sixteenths: 2.4 means 2 and 4/16 inches, which is 57 mm across. The bangle has to pass over the hand, not just fit the wrist: bring your thumb to your little finger, measure around the widest part of the folded hand with a tape, and read the circumference against the table. If you own a bangle that fits, measure its inner diameter with a ruler.

Kada and openable bangles can be worn a size smaller than a closed bangle. A bride who will wear many bangles together should take a size that goes on without soap; a full set that fits only with effort is uncomfortable within an hour.

Necklaces and harams

Lengths on the product page are the inside length of the piece lying flat, clasp to clasp. As a rule a choker sits at 14 to 16 inches, a short necklace at 16 to 18, and a haram at 24 to 30 inches so that it falls below a short necklace. Hold a length of thread at the measurement against yourself in a mirror, over the blouse the piece will be worn with. Most of our harams have adjustable back chains with three positions.

Between sizes, or unsure

Write to us with your measurements and a photograph of a piece that fits, and we will size the piece for you before it leaves. Rings and bangles may be resized once at no charge within 30 days of delivery; after that for a small charge. Pieces resized at your request cannot then be returned, as set out in our returns policy.
